Nominate where rectifi will make its next donation!

We have £1,261.19 to donate to charity for the last quarter (Jan - Mar 08) of fundraising, and I need your help in deciding where to spend it (something I've never done here before, so bear with me if its a little disorganised! :) )

Recently with the protests in Tibet and Burma human rights is obviously high on people's agenda, yet with growing concerns in the UK about climate change I'm sure many want to assist efforts to reduce our impact or to support organisations campaigning for political energy behind the fight against global warming.

Vietnam Travel

While distracting myself from dissertations, I finally got around to getting some of my photos and experiences in Vietnam together into a travel website - Vietnam Travel - its very much at the early stages but I think its got potential. I've listed it at Best of the web and a few other directories.

I plan to include reviews hotel and restuarants, and information on selection of out of the way places, as well as facts on travelling, culture, customs and charitable organisations but at the moment the main pages I've worked on have been Con Dao, Nha Trang, Mui Ne and Hue.

iPod Competition closed

Our iPod Nano competition is now closed, with many thanks to all who took part. The winner is Christopher Ellis from London, and his iPod is now winging its way through the post to his door.

Don't forget to check back for more competitions in the future, and thanks again for taking part!

Silk Scarves

As a project for Christmas I have just set up a shop selling Vietnamese silk scarves and cashmere pashminas. Please take a look - there's an introductory offer of 20% off too - just enter the code INTRO20 into the checkout when you place your order.

7 Climate Change Facts To Inspire You To Act

  • 45,000 square miles of forest are lost across the world each year (roughly the same sized area as Ireland)

  • 34%: the amount by which the world's population has grown in the last 20 years
  • 75,000 people a year are killed by natural disasters and more than 200 million are affected

Drupal ShopWindow Module Launched

I've finally got around to tidying up my code and making it ready for public consumption, and am proud to announce the release of my Shopwindow module for Drupal, making it a very quick and simple process to set up niche shopping sites using AffiliateWindow's data and Drupal's flexibility.

Donation totals now update automatically

I've just finished a script that automatically updates the total amount raised by rectifi and displays it at the top of the screen. For money raised by searches the effect is immediate (go on, try it! :) ) and commission information for sales through the charity shop is updated every hour.

This means that very soon we will be able to list the commissions you've generated, the top shops by funds raised and our top contributing users - I just have to make the pages look pretty first!

rectifi now 100% not for profit

Since July 1st every penny generated from shopping and searching on rectifi will go directly to charity - which is at least twice as good as any other charity shopping site we've found yet.

As I run rectifi as a volunteer, currently the only cost of the website is our hosting - roughly $90 per month. Now we have adverts from TextLinkAds on our front page bringing in $120 a month our costs are completely covered, meaning every penny you generate through shopping at rectifi will go to charity.

Syndicating charity shopping with Drupal

In the last few days I've been playing with an offering from Affiliate Window, one of the major advertising networks providing shopping search to rectifi. They have developed their own shopping search called ShopWindow, allowing websites to quickly and easily add a shopping channel to their websites.

Join Us!

Every time you shop on rectifi you save money AND raise money for charity - free - through the advertising funds we receive.

We give 100% of our profits to charity and are volunteer run so the lions share of the commissions we receive go to charity.

You help us raise this extra source of funds for charity, so we think you should have a say in how it is spent

And, of course, we want to thank you for our support and keep you updated on our results
