We believe rectifi has the potential to become a significant new form of income for charitable organisations, and you are welcome to nominate yourselves as potential beneficiaries. However we must stress that at present we would rather make large quarterly donations to a single charity than spread the benefits too thinly, at least until the total raised per month has grown
Yet we don't think rectifi's sole power lies in fundraising - in fact we consider the educational potential to be just as, if not more dramatic than the fundraising potential. Indeed we found while running GiveAsYouGet we could receive 5,000 individuals a day, the equivalent monthly readership of a mainstream magazine, without a penny paid on publicity. We also believe that many problems can be better solved with a change in perceptions and attitudes than simply by throwing money at them.
As a result we have added tips selected at random to every page of the site, to catch the eye of the surfer with the short attention span. We hope through continued exposure to these ideas people will realise just how easy it is to change one's life to make a difference in the greater world. We are also putting together more in-depth features on particular issues for those who wish to expand their knowlege, with links to authorities on the subjects and most importantly suggesting immediate actions users can take to make a difference, through online advocacy etc.
As a result, whilst we would love to hear from you with respect to fundraising on your behalf, we also love to bring attention to any campaigns you may be running, issues you feel are important but not covered here, or corrections and ommissions for the issues we have covered. We're students, not development experts, and so are quite happy to receive constructive criticism as well as your own suggestions.
If you have quick tips you'd like to submit in bulk, articles on issues not covered here, photographs we could reproduce with credit or campaigns you would like us to direct our users towards, please sign up and add them to the site. We want to make rectifi into a hub for information and action on issues of conscience, and wherever possible we want to offer practical actions users can take alongside a highlighted problem to keep our users empowered.
